In The DMV

In The DMV

A Poem by The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)
"

Kelli challenged me to write a parody of Born In The USA and make it about the DMV so here it is... I used inspiration from my friends Joanie's recent experience there. Parodies are but fun to do.

"

Gone down to a place I dread

The first thing I did was stand in line

End up like a sheep being herded to lunch

Then spent half the day grazing on nothing,

Bored at the DMV, I was

Bored at the DMV, I was

Bored at the DMV

Bored at the DMV

Now

Got into a little hostile tiff

She wouldn’t put a license in my hand

Sent me off to another man, so I’d have to start all over again

Pissed at the DMV, I was

Pissed at the DMV, I was

Pissed at the DMV, I was

Pissed at the DMV

Went back glowing to her window

Supervisor said, “to give me what I need”

Watched her have a hissy fit

She said, “Does you think I really care”

Saw the  boss stared her down, making her right the wrong

She bite my dust, I was gone

I had to wonder why she had a job

With no tact and little charm.

Done with this stupidity of state employees

Out the doors- feeling of sweet release

I’m done with raging- gonna move on

Now I have to run, got better places to go

Done with the DMV, I am

Done with the DMV

Done with the DMV, I’m long gone forgetting the DMV

Done with the DMV

Done with the DMV

Done with the DMV, I’m off to enjoy freedom in my SUV

LoL I do not miss those days of having to go to the PA DMV!!
Here in bum muck 'middle of nowhere' NE it's a piece of cake and
everyone is so nice. Hell, half the time I'm the only one there when
I go. If not there's one other person..lol. Small town bliss...

:)))) Clever, you! Of course, had to check on the wording, being an 'igerant Brit" but once informed, i so agree about the attitudes some folk have/take with the public. Guess they hate their jobs, only want their pay and can't wait for weekends. Don't we al!! But hey, you've created a great read here - so thanks for taking up both dare and inspiration!

Love the tongue in cheek humour in this, the way it's displayed, etc.. and oh that Mr. Springsteen!

I did.. humming the song whilst sitting here too!
I rather think its ' American Pie ' by Don MacLean. And another thing ... that's not a parody. Have a nice day pardner!

I thought it was amazing. And then when I saw it was written to the tune of a Springsteen song I liked it even more. I love me some boss.

I had a laugh over this one! The DMV must advertise for these people: "Did your last boss call you unemployable right before he physically kicked you out the door? Do you enjoy making other people suffer? Does the thought of forcing people to stand in line until they pass out give you a naughty thrill? Well, do we have a job for you! Come on down and apply at the Department of Motor Vehicles!"

But in the interest of fairness, I should say I have had good experiences at the DMV also, with people who are quick, friendly, and professional. It's just that the awful ones stand out.
