The Bully

The Bully

A Poem by Baby Ricochet
"

I wrote this for a contest. No one's going to write from the bully's perspective so I figured I would. My apologies to my gay friends for use of the "F" word. It's just for effect

"

What are you looking at f****t
Want my fist in your face
Shove your head into the toilet
 Teach you the word disgrace

I love to see you terrified
   Cause you're my little b***h
Brings me joy to hear you plead
It makes my life so rich

Don't you know it's encouraging
   To see you squirm around
  Crying like a wounded kitten
   I stomped into the ground

I live for fear and misery
     It's all I've ever known
   With an alcoholic mother
and a cruel step dad at home

He beats me with a studded belt
He burns me with a pipe
He tried to rape me in the a*s
When mom passed out at night

   He torments me for pleasure
      Until I fight him back
So he cries to my w***e mother
   blames me for the attack

That drunken b***h takes his side
         tries to throw me out
But the judge says I'm a minor
     So home's my only route

There's no safe place for me to go
I don't know what to do
So I act out with violence
and take it out on you

       I intimidate and terrify
        Make life a living hell
     torture torment and horrify
So fear that old school bell

      Then back to my tormentors
         Back to my worst fears
Back to school to share the pain
        I've endured for years

None of you seem to understand
It's all part of a system
A cycle of violence and misery
      and I'm just another victim

Thank you Kirby. Love the photo.
This is very well done; we see both sides of the bully and how he is in some ways a victim himself.

This is SO DISGUSTING and so INSPIRING at the same time. As the poem opens to the introduction of a bully, it seems we will be shown his bad sides, but following the first stanza, it comes to realization that the poem was worshiping the bully. The fourth stanza only shatters this presumption into the irony.
This seems like a RAP, no doubt.
By the way, a few weeks ago, I had also written a poem about bullying named A Tide or A Pool. Did you check?

Welcome and thanks :)
Well this sure tells the tale as it truly is. It opens the wounds of old for many and lays bare the thoughts many keep hidden. Torturing a child in life is one thing I cannot stand to see an adult do. Well written well done .One of your best.

Thank you Tate
This poem has a lot of truth to it. Bullies are often abused or neglected in their home lives, and they take out their aggressions on those they perceive to be weak. They're simply products of their upbringing. It's really a sad, cyclical cycle, and it will be a difficult one to break because there are so many awful parents out there.

Once again, nice work! I noticed a few mistakes. Since I'm gay, I don't mind pointing out that 'fagot' is spelled 'f****t.' Also, in the second to last stanza, third line, 'Back to my worse fears' should be 'Back to my worst fears.' Just some suggestions! :D

No problems! Keep up the good work, man.
This is really sad, only because there's so much truth to it. I had a friend that I met on a survivor site, they beat his boyfriend to death, he ended up taking his own life eventually, it's a vicious cycle and nobody gets out alive. Thanks for sharing this one Mark...it needed to be written.

Sgih. This poem brings back so many painful memories of my childhood, with the homophobic slurs and physical abuse, I endured at the hands of bullies. The abuse (and I do mean abuse) got so bad, I suffered PTSD and depression from it. Inspite of these thugs, I never turned upon another person, as a bully. It's a moral choice, we make, when to turn anger upon another person. So please pardon me, if my symthpany isn't with them.

It's hard, as a victim of bullying to see a bully as an actual person and not just some monster, It's hard to think of them as anything but cruel, and maybe that is the victim's fault. But either way, thanks for this eye opener, Ricochet

Bullies are difficult, no doubt. Thanks for reading dog.
Yup! I've never been a bully myself but this poem makes sense. I've seen people exactly like this. The sad thing is - bullying can be curbed but it will never stop. I think we sometimes inadvertently cater to it - we celebrate aggression and competition - and then we turn around and say "don't fight" I know its cliche but when I was a kid - we had a remedy for bullies. My own children were always told - don't hit first but if someone is giving you hell and you need to defend yourself - do what you need to do. Perhaps that's wrong but it stopped more than one kid picking on my kid. Of course, my younger spent time in in school suspension...for defending himself.
anyway - writing from the bullies perspective is laudable. Well done! Makes you stop and think.
