The Lament of Peace

The Lament of Peace

A Poem by Baby Ricochet
"

Born with a warrior's spirit

Filled with a warrior's lust

Living in silent complacency

My weapon turning rust

Reminiscing on mecca violence

The scent of victory

unleash the vicious dogs of war

Run wild through history

Days of adventure come to pass

We lived life at it's peak

Cheated death a hundred fold

Nevermore for the weak

Peace dawns dim in a fading light

Filled with decaying dreams

Sifting through burning memories

for something to redeem

Monotony crushes in on me

Life crawls in slow motion

Living with the uncertainty

of taking Satan's bargain

Snakes hunt rats in rabbit holes

Eagles prey upon the snake

The circle of death continues

Our fate is what we make

Awesome! Will do sir.
This is what I regard as a 'roller coaster' read. It takes me up and down and back and forth with its raw intensity. What a great write!

Hey, this is powerful stuff. And the name is Brian.
it's great, you know i always shoot straight, my grandpa thought so anyway . . . for me, and this is purely personal perception

you take a subject that is rough and deadly and raw, and when you make it rhyme, it loses some of that edge, it is more of a nursery rhyme than a razor edged blade that will slash through the barriers between the poet and the world he lives in

there's a warrior in you pounding on the walls trying to let loose the kickass kinda poetry that will one day change the world

Thus is the life of an unspent warrior. Notta happy prospect in times of peace I would imagine. Sometimes you just have to set down your weapons of destruction and take up playing a new game, like chess or Hasbro's Cootie Bugs. :)

And yes, I believe we could learn something from the words of Trelane from Star Trek:
"I want to learn all about your feelings on war and killing and conquest, that sort of thing. Do you know that you're one of the few predator species that preys even on itself?"

And Trelane, as you remember was ultimately found out to be a spoiled child, as Kirk said overdue for a spanking. Sometimes I think our great military generals out there fighting for empty causes could do with a few whallops to their backside so they learn to play nice with everyone else.
