Flooding Empty Cities

Flooding Empty Cities

A Poem by demureminds

Left longing for looks that pierce,

sending jolts of understanding

through my arteries,

flooding my veins

that’ve run cold

for so long.

Left anticipating for a gaze,

a genuine one,

fresh as alcohol

making you spill truth

no matter the consequence,

the sweet bitter taste

of being a mind reader.

Left witnessing the familiar scenery,

empty

eyes always looking back,

words flooding cities,

meaningless empty

waters that just destroy

hopes.

Many societies have fell in defeat; all because of a secret being kept and lies being spoken. Amazing what you could do with such an intriguing concept; looking to it as water.
