Defaced

Defaced

A Poem by demureminds

These tears leak out

of rusty aqueducts,

the pipe overburdened with woes

of hatred and stale spirits

as catastrophe morphs faces

into blurs of bare mess,

only a pneuma left to define

essentia through these eyes.

Scraping my luck for pure gold

but only kosher copper souls

derived

of my alchemy,

ousting my words

and consuming their lies,

their lives nothing but

the knives on my skin,

painting blood from my veins

on me,

a canvas,

defaced.

I find that if you separate the two stanzas, they both represent their own unique concept. Intertwined, however, they band together and create a beautiful, melancholic, mind-blowing poem doing wonders to the soul. Nothing else to be said except: heartfelt.
