Death At Your Back

Death At Your Back

A Poem by Diana Owen Busy with Life BBS!

It is a sense of impending doom.

A spine tingling chill,

that will penetrate you to the core.

It will not discriminated against you.

It will take you without remorse.

Leave you quaking in fear.

pleading for mercy.

Begging for one more chance.

It will leave you defenseless.

Harboring its curse upon those who

challenge it.

Denying absoultion.

When death stands at your back will you be ready.

Excellent write.....and to answer the question in this one.......I don't not fear death.....death is just the beginning to the new life beyond this earthly body.......when death comes will you strech out your hand without fear and welcome it? Can death been an worse than life? No more bodily pains, no more heart ache and no moe worries. The spirit set free from this flesh prison we reside in now.

I immediately thought of the grim reaper and it blind quest."When death stands at your back will you be ready?" This question waves heavy on every body's mind. How does one prepare for one's on death, and still feel at peace with it?

Great poem. Makes one question themselves.
I wonder if one isn't ready they can look into the face of death and say, "Not yet!"

In my work, Racing the Reaper was a term we used when we knew we had to fight to win this battle. Many patients I encoutntered took their last breaths fighting for one more, others fought back from the brink and lived for another visit. We do not know the day or hour of our death, but some are more prepared than others. Those who are truly ready turn, face the Reaper and give him a warm embrace. Well written, great picture, and excellent imagery!
