This mask I fear

This mask I fear

A Poem by diaphanous

Here we go again
the wheel starts to spin
I'm caught in its wake
It's faster now, that wheel of fate.

I've spun many times before,
took some chances
knowing what's in store,
getting caught in its advances.

I want to stop the cycle
before it's too late
This time I'm protecting him
these efforts are for his sake.

But I feel the other one
rising out of my chest
She wants my life to come undone
She's a parasite, a rotten pest.

When I'm happy and full
of love and honey and stars
She arrives to give one pull
and rips everything apart.

I quell her angry cries
keeping her locked inside
This one is different
He has kinder eyes.

He holds me close
with warm arms and cheek
I feel a gentle content
a warmth to quiet the beast

But two faces her and I
we share the same life
But while I long for peace
she screams for strife

you've got bags of talent. the constant rhyming (imo) hides it

A very good depiction regarding the duality of personalities. Sometimes we sabotage good things in our lives and the first order of business is to stop ourselves before we do it again. It was good to read you.
