Birthday Wishes

A Poem by diaphanous

Incandescent flames
burst into light
and the list of names
ran through her mind:
Andrew, the love of her life
more than anything
she wanted him that night.
Nikki, a best friend
tolerated too much abuse
a girl tortured to no end.
Boris, her favorite grandpa
losing his memory and his sight
rich in history
lost forever despite his fight.
Robert, a loving guy
has endless bad luck
and can't seem to figure out why.
Brian, too many troubles
lies to himself
trapped in his own little bubble
Abby, a beautiful artist
so much talent and insecurity
packed into one little fist
so many more, too many to list
if she could,
she'd grant them all their wish
sadly, there wasn't time.
She shed a small tear
let go of her fears
pursed her lips
closed her eyes,
and made a wish

You are welcome. Good write.
this is really really beautiful!!!! What wonderful thoughts and not at all what I expected, which is fantastic to surprise the reader like that. And how many people actually pause to think or wish for others at such a moment. I love it!!
