I Don't Understand

How do you miss someone
that you never even had?
Explain it to me
I don't understand.

I can't close my eyes 
and pretend you're here.
I've had enough of lies
Everything is suddenly so clear.

You don't belong to me,
You never did.
Listen to me please,
It's time this was said.

When you tell me you love me
I know it's true.
But hearing it means
I can't get over you.

I was once so brave 
I used to guard my heart.
But now I'm afraid
You've inadvertently torn it apart.

So far away, 3,000 miles, and yet so near, under the same sky. Yearning for something we can never have, hmmm, isn't that the way of things. Ever yearn for that new car, finally get it, and then a few months later are tired of it? Causes one to wonder.
