My Cruel Mistress

My Cruel Mistress

A Poem by dilettante1890
"

Mirror Mirror on the wall who is the loveliest one of all?

"

  pretty
bone shiver
savy
shiver skin
lovely
& marble skin
fabulous.

the beauty industry is
full of
terrorists
& I'm a purile
little fish

i'll wear your
masks
& buy your facist
powders
and creams

you cater
to the part of
me that hates myself
don't you

my cruel mistress?

materialism makes me sick. and all those magazines! and those clever, clever copy writers sitting there pulling the levers ... buy, buy, want, want, skinny, be skinny, be beautiful... sick, sick... horrible! great poem! it got me going!

Very true with everything advertised in magazines, tv and all around us. I like it.

I like the way you reflect all the Barbie getup with artificiality and falsity.
I like the way you show you hate it because it hides the real you, but use it because you know it offers you some kind of protection.
Good write.

About
As it is written... Try as I might to escape the cold reality of it---I am a writer. It is what I do best. It may not be what I do to earn a living, (though that is ultimately my goal) but it is wha.. more..
