A Dormant Heart

A Dormant Heart

A Poem by Audrey Howitt
"

A poem about middle aged lovers

"

Soften my hard edges

Those that my life has seen fit

To impose upon the veneer of my persona.

Let me lose myself in your smell,

So like that of a meadow after rain’s fall.

Kindle the fire which dormant lies,

Tarnished by daily frustrations.

Lie with me, sweet lover of my soul,

And like the moth,

Let us play with fire.

Audrey, I've had sex that was not nearly as enthralling as your poem.
Magic.

The poem well fits the note... very well fits.

My goodness, what a lot's said in those last two lines: ' .. And like the moth, ~ Let us play with fire.' Whereas the previous words set the scene of you and your lover, those two lines are a play and a half!

Those last three lines.......lie with me, sweet lover of my soul, and like the moth, let us play with fire........sizzling hot! Wonderful piece Audrey!
