child of war

child of war

A Poem by dessy

I cried today
when I saw your face
on a child of war
in a far away place
murdered by men who
dont care to know his name
who will never admit to
being the cause of his pain
I cried for his mother
her absence of choice- victemized
by the political ambitions of
men who'll never apologize
by unjustly damning religious zealots
who praise their gods with
showers of indiscriminate bullets
with every ounce of my soul
I rallied against this tragedy
for the families caught unwillingly
in this absolutely avoidable atrocity
they do not represent us
those hawks who clamor for
self rightous causes and this
invariably unecessary war
if we could all instill
in our children integrity
we could undo these wrongs
be the saving grace of humanity.

I agree with you. Woman and children in the way of the War machine. No excuse for their death. People in this world are human shields. Check out Rachel Corrie on the internet. One of many who died protecting woman and children. This world need to stop and have peace talks before it is too late. Your poem is powerful. I pray for better days for all people in this world.

About
Complicated. One word, but I find it fits me best. I am not old but not young, I am a mother, sadly not anymore a daughter. I love music but cannot make it myself. I hide from the truth when it hurts,.. more..
