Scarlet Light

Scarlet Light

A Poem by Shadin Manning

The orbs could see right through you

Ghastly skeletal fingers

Confining a beautiful scarlet light …

With the aroma of sweet raspberries in the summer’s day

All that passion…just trash it

Down to business...

Up

Down

Up

Down

Hard knocks at my back door

Playing their percussion instruments

Boom!

Boom!

Boom!

The melody coinciding with my heart beat

Harp strings escaping from our compassion

Your heart beat intertwined with mine

Celestial harmony, interlocking us

No strings attached?

This can't be true

Are you my soul mate?

I hope it's you

My mind…always so jocular

Explosion…erosion

Now you’re walking away from me

Dragging me with you,

The master of puppetry

I surrendered happily...

You summoned your skeletal fingers

Shredding our harmonious strings

Melody no more...

As you vanished from my orbs

The scarlet light began to dim…

Getting dimmer and dimmer with each passing step

The aroma of sweet raspberries in the summer's day,

Still poignant on my skin...

Like the wind
she's blown away
The aroma of sweet raspberries in the summer's day
Still poignant on my skin

There is a driving rhythm here that is flooded with the scarlet shine.. A sensual vision of connections and the feelings that rise when loneliness returns.. So well done.
