Bye Bye Baby

Bye Bye Baby

A Poem by Paige L. Brooks (Call me Andy)
"

A tribute to the fight and the warning of child abuse.

"

Young boy and a younger sister.

Barely 7 years old is he and she only 6.

A mother who is addicted to drugs,

The father a simple alcholic.

Mother hides in a corner while Daddy grabs the little sister by the arm.

He screams and swears.

He throws things at mother and hits little sister.

Young boy screams and pleas for him to stop.

Daddy grabs the little girl by the throat,

He hits her in the face,

And tells her to be quiet.

Finally,

She goes limp.

She closed her eyes

And drew no breath.

Daddy gets taken away,

Mother too.

The tall lady in black took the boy with her.

The next day she took the boy to see his sister.

Lowered into a grave,

Laid inside the coffin a girl only 6 years old.

He sat looking down at the coffin as they buried her.

Then he looked up.

There, in the broad light of day, stood a statue of an angel.

Made of pink marble,

Shiny and new.

He said to himself, in the midst of the silence,

"Bye Bye Baby. Don't worry about me... I'll be along soon enough."

Young boy and a younger sister.

Barely 7 is he and she...

Only 6.
