Marine

Marine

A Poem by Bianca La Salle

You fake a smile
Hoping that nobody would see
How much his absence kills you
You try so hard to stay strong long he’s gone
But the constant fear of losing him
Lingers deep inside you
You knew the risk
You knew it wasn’t  going to be easy
The minute he walked out that door
You knew that he may never come home

As the days without him stretch on
You can’t help but stare at the phone
Hoping for him to call
Preying that he is okay
Every time you lay in bed
You can’t help but grab the pillow
Knowing that his scent
Would be there
All you want is him to be home
But
You knew what was in stored, when you
Said “I DO” to
The Marine
