"Can We Pretend?"

"Can We Pretend?"

A Poem by what-the-frick

Can we pretend
That I didn't see your eyes flicker
When you said, "I love you,"
Can we pretend you meant it?

Can we pretend that the last year meant nothing
Nothing more than the feelings
You hide from yourself, from me, from the world
Can we pretend you don't hate me?

Can we pretend the vows I spoke were to you
That my first time
Was the right time
With the right person
Can we pretend we fell in love?

Can we pretend everything has fallen into place
For me
Since you left for good
That you hear my name in every word you say
Can we pretend you miss me?

A great poem that captures feelings and emotions that many people sometimes feel, including moi. A terrific read :)
