"Almost, but not quite"

"Almost, but not quite"

A Poem by what-the-frick

Once upon a time, there lived a girl. She'd had many a heartbreak, and was tired. One day, as if sensing her reluctance and fatigue, God sent her a man, named after his creation. This man proved her heartbreak ridiculed, and slowly, she began to trust.  It almost seemed too surreal; here was this man, who craved the same things she did. Their passions lay in mirror and laughter rang bells. But, alas, this love.  The cravings became fewer. Passion took the fork in the road. Laughter glowed dim.  Both girl and boy were sad, defeated.  They longed for the depths that spiraled them together. Both held their hand out to the other, but their fingertips did not reach.
