Lost Verse

Lost Verse

A Poem by Jenna
"

From about two years ago

"

There is a tree that grows on the other side of the universe

Growing far away from the trees of ours

And it’s filling up its world.

There is a song that grows on the other side of the universe

Growing far away from the songs of ours

And it’s filling up its world.

And the tree and the song are connected by roots

And the calls of the unknown birds

And the tree and the song are connected by leaves

And the cries of the unknown verse.

There is a glitter in the darkened sky

While the crickets chirp and rustle

And the verse still cries.

The tree spots a light that glows on the other side of their universe

Coming closer and closer to the world of theirs

And it’s taking up their world.

But the tree and the song are connected by roots

And the calls of the unknown birds

But the tree and the song are connected by leaves

And the cries of the unknown verse.

And the light’s taking over that other side of the universe

When stopped by the

Taps of the roots and the calls of the birds

And rustling of leaves and the cricket’s chirp

The song connected by its lost-and-found verse.
