IT WASN'T JUST EVE

IT WASN'T JUST EVE

A Poem by Andrew

I was there with Eve
When the serpent convinced her with ease
Telling her what to believe
The fruit, he said, contained no disease.

I partook of the dreaded apple,
Savoring its delicious essence
Not seeing him,me topple,
My greed had robbed me of any sense.

I was there in the garden,
Feeling so out of place,
Like an antelope in the lion's den,
Thought i should my running shoes lace.

For every attempt to be excused,
Refusal to be responsible,
Upon humanity was diffused,
The curse,and us despicable.

I was there in the garden,
When he refused to me disdain,
Instead upon me he'd laden,
The blessing, restoration and my status in Him regain.

If i blame only Eve,
I'd be speaking only the half,
I too was there in the garden, i'll not you deceive,
I accept responsibility for my own half.
