sideshow

sideshow

A Poem by B. Bishop
"

we are awfully proud of you son...just don't forget your penis cream

"

It’s a long path if you don’t have the companionship of another
Like a stray dog with no name tag, hoping to find a home
You can only travel so far before you forget where you were going
For you need a motive to keep moving to a destination that was never known

I cannot deny, nor can I lie, that I look through my eyes and see another dead end
The street lights flicker as if mocking that I am lost
I seemed to have missed the kick off leaving me defenseless to the approaching players
I pray to the skies but I don’t know how many stars it will cost

I’m trapped in the dark and there’s no light at the end of this tunnel
Just a train advancing quickly and the conductor is half asleep
I’m pretty sure I can take the hit for my heart has already died long ago
I try to fall into slumber but my mind has lost count of the sheep

With every lonely day I fall farther and farther away
I fear that this time there is no ladder tall enough to pull me out of this trench
The big game is upon me and I stare at my fellow team mates
I instantly know that all I’ll be doing is warming the bench

I’m a hopeless romantic that only scores a date with myself
Basking in a one song glory that never hit’s the charts
I can write a beautiful score and perform it only to yours truly
The only gift I’m given is the gift of a thousand broken hearts

Watch me set sail with nothing but high hopes and big dreams
Now resting at the bottom of the Atlantic for those dreams had no sturdy foundation
Laugh at the tattered man locked up for your amusement
Where the only form of intimacy he receives is from that of masturbation

They all gawk and they laugh for I am a sideshow named pathetic
So you can rip my heart apart and let the others now dissect it
With scalpel at hand do your worst for I truly dare you to try
For the autopsy of love for me has previously never been selected

All the knights of the round spend their nights in my room
I attempt to conquer new territory but my advance does nothing but lose ground
Every light has a shade, every door has a lock
I search for my strength but its somewhere hidden in the lost and found

A plea of misery every one of my channels is lost in an SOS
Trudging through a desert abyss the sand whips up at my face
I try to guard my eyes but they’ve been scarred beyond recognition
Which leaves my me to be cast out deep into space
