Canvas of Androgyny

Canvas of Androgyny

A Poem by DevinS

I met a woman today
she looked at me with judgement in her eyes
as she stared at my shaved head
she asked why do you wear men's jeans like those
Pardon me mam but my baggy jeans are comfortable
and although they may be men's jeans
I think I fill them better than most
Her eyes traveled down to my bracelet
and she said what's the meaning of that
Mam, what have you got against rainbows
Your God made them isn't that a fact?
Her eyes filled with anger and selfrighteousness
she screamed to speak of her God in that way is blasphemy
Well mam i would have to disagree
you see my God made ME
her very own canvas of androgyny
My God loves my shaved head
what's so great about hair anyway
mam i know you'd love to crucify me
but my God is love
and my love is no threat to your family
She yelled when judgement day comes you won't dare to talk that way
I said mam when that day comes
a prayer of forgiveness for you I'll say!
