The City

The City

A Poem by Duke Teager

Collective in collection

Packed like sardines

Recursive, automatic

Makes it very hard to breathe

Artificially unintelligent

Like meaning lost down the sewer

Reclusive, robotic

Device grips unlike any other

Networks in networks…

Cages within cages…

You had me from the very first line.... and then it trails off with that ending - I feel like you need to say something more, it seems unfinished!

Other than that, this is excellent.

You've described an element of the city well. I can see why you've chosen words like robotic, automatic, artificially, cages. The city can be either a wonderful place or a stuffy and fake planet full of robots who work everyday in a plastic programmed atmosphere. Good poem.
