routine

routine

A Poem by Ed Hart

storms of self

steady as tides

in this tricky world

for dancers out of rhyme

nightly tete-a-tete

into a pillow's yield

unravishes tangled rationals

that bare old wounds

crowding busy moments

into the promise of tomorrow

quiet finds the way

steady as tides

this round

works me well

like balancing aloft

between

alone

I try and you are welcome.
And you, without a net, even.

-- wow... hardly anyone i have ever read or know can write like you, Maestro Ed... that too about brutal introspection and how it's not actually brutal at all... but leads to a kind of equanimity that's giving and gracious... -- your 'self' is a finely sculpted bonsai that flourishes because of your relentless pursuit of excellence in poetic expression... among other things... of course... -- oh, and what a privilege it is to read you... -- you're just nonparaeil... and you will be tomorrow too... coz you only compete with yourself...

-- and you say the nicest things to me, Maestro Ed... :)
The balance is to find the spot between a burning desire to froth it all out or to hold it all in. The soft spot of indifference where neither tug is too strong is somewhat like peace and often tides one through. Masterful!

out here in the world it is rare to encounter a fellow traveler, but here at wc those who understand.. read more
sometimes it's in dreams that we relive the memories...but often it is just laying our head on the pillow, trying to go to sleep, when the sheep march, those steady tides of unrest approach, and our rationality gets quite blurred...but there is always tomorrow, and that new start...and maybe the achievement of finding balance.

such an insightful, philosophical poem.
