Toxic Love

Toxic Love

A Poem by Rain Bo
"

This is about a girl who does drugs and cuts herself. She got into these things because of her boyfriend/supplier, and now he hates himself for what she's become. This is from his point of view.

"

To hand her the needle and watch her shoot up.

To look into her glassy eyes.

To see myself in her and be ashamed.

To watch her die.

To know it's my fault.

To see the blade slide across her skin.

To regret meeting her.

To always love her.

To watch her carve in her skin those three toxic words.

To write love on her arms.

My son just found out about that charity...he keeps nagging me to buy him the t-shirt...it really bothers him that anyone can be so hurt and self-destructive to want to cut themselves...it bothers me, as well, but I remember well the days when I was that low myself...I'm so thankful to have come out of that darkness and found something real to live for...there are happy endings.

This was really good.
I can feel the regret of the dealer and the love he has for this girl.
Usually drug dealers don't care what happens to the people they deal to, it's just about the money.
But the man really cares. And in an odd way it's sweet.

It's very dark and emotional, I think in this one you seemed to be dealing more with events than their description.
It's nice to get a healthy shot of both, in a poem.

I like it!
