A Poem by eglantine

I awoke to a piano
lullaby ringing in my ears
and moon lyrics
whitening my lips,

goosebumps illuminate my pale skin.

The stars talk
to me: they blink
Morse-code.  I drag
my knuckles along the blue
wall, force my skin away.

I want to see bright bone,
like fresh moon in the dark.

Another beautiful piece. I find depth in your writing that is not something I commonly see around here. The concrete nature of your poetry melted with the concise wording and imagery filled wordplay is a true treat. The second to last stanza is truly amazing...images I have not read before. Original indeed.

Damn I love your writing,E. The whole shedding skin and rebirth concept is completely brilliant, and I love the Morse-code metaphor. Great job :)

Moon lyrics whitening my lips...

really, tell me...how do you tap the vein of such breathless inspiration so very often?

heartbreak lol
I like the idea of the stars relaying Morse code. I am also quite in love with the thought of the moon's lyrics. I think that would be a good way to start another poem. In fact, I think you could do a whole collection of lunar poetry because you do lunar imagery and figurative language so well.

"I want to see bright bone,
like fresh moon in the dark."

I dig those lines quite a lot.

this poem has perhaps wedded my soul..I think a great poem stabs you and you weep a path into the womb, and it's three a.m. and you're on a bench with your first born learning everything there is to know about life and an empty capsule of charcoal and a dear john letter waits for you in the morning like a kiss on the cheek..that said, i think i can let your writing sink into my mind more consciously now..it's weird being this sober, but I don't miss it

merci Leslie!
A new moon, a new skin- renewal and rebirth. What a lovely poem. I particularly loved the blanching aspects of the poem.
