Water as old as the moon

Water as old as the moon

A Poem by eglantine

I'm only a wisp of light
caught in Lake Michigan's stare,

a black butterfly,
                         an almond tree,
               a drop of amber blood.

Bathe me in coconut milk
because my skin has forgotten
    how to be skin--
it is more shadow or reflection
                     or water.

Pick me up:
I am a feather to some unknown daydream.

I want to make your heart shiver
like moonlight on a trembling lake.

Sounds pretty amazing. Here you've praised the an angelic beauty of yours. Yeah, may you soon get bathed in coconut milk cus it's all what that makes you more beautiful as same as an angel ever. I liked the concept and the flow of your ink. All the feelings, the expressions are well defined into the droplets of words by you.

Keep up the great work!

This is an enchanting read, love the notion, some fanciful imagery. I think you could knock off the second skin, it's redundant...'my skin has forgotten how to be'... very lovely, enjoyed.

I love this poem. Your imagery is vivid yet uncommon (which is what I really loved). I especially liked the line
"it is more shadow or reflection
or water"
I like the sadness in not being what it used to be. It remains only as a memory and therefore hurts. I love the yearning and hope at the end. The best part is the closing. That is sheer eloquence. To capture the restlessness and exuberance together in one line. Beautiful piece of work.

Thank you very much Abhra
Your imagery is impeccable!

This poem brings to my mind the image of the "ripple effect"- a small touch on the water's surface causing a big reaction: a plethora of ripples. You know you're small, yet you want to make a big impact.

Lovely work!

The imagery and sensory detail in this work is incredible. The first stanza gives the initial "one-two" punch lol and the final stanza:" I want to make your heart shiver
like moonlight on a trembling lake" is just complete brilliance. Great job:)
