Towel

Towel

A Poem by Jean-Pierre Garcia
"

A stand against domestic violence.

"
Pale ragged towel torn to bits
this one for shoe shine
Yellow like piss
It was bright once
before it was thrown out
washed once too many
frayed split edges
strands clumped together
as the paint dried
battered in the dryer
unable to cool
or rinse properly
It only seems dirty now
when it only wanted clean
to be
and do so.
It can't be used any more
no...t for the floor
or the dyed leather boot
When it's finally pulled a part
it can be alone
yet not exactly at peace
not yet
"Do not Panic"

This is a good one, JP. I liked the imagery you used, and the rearrangement of sentence structure; very creative. I only stumbled on "no...t." I'm sure it was intended, and I like the forced ambiguity that throws onto the statement. Well done.
