Fairy-Tales

Fairy-Tales

A Poem by ElizabethRaine
"

Sometimes we don't get our happy endings.

"
My lips aren't as red as snow white, but they can be.
I haven't lost my glass slipper, but you can take it.
I cannot hold my breath as long as Ariel, but you can show me.
I have a red hood, but the wolves are too fast for me.
I've kissed a frog but received no prince.
Slept in a bear's bed, but I didn't survive.
I've been down many rabbit-holes but never have I left with a clear mind.
I have had my share of lies, but my nose refuses to grow.
I've grown too old to dream of flying, Never gone to Neverland.
I have made my bed and slept, waiting for a prince that never came.
Spent hours with lions who never gave me wise advice.
Whispered to my toys, but they never whispered back.
I've rubbed the so called 'magical oil lamp' and haven't glimpsed a genie.
I've thrust myself into danger, hoping some hero would come to my aid.
Turned my back on my family only to honor them, but failed.
Given up civilization to find my Tarzan.
And I've cried wolf more than I can count.
Climbed a hill, fell down but my crown was in in tact.
The London Bridge didn't fall when I walked it's length.
I've filled my pockets to the brim with Posies and burnt them to ashes.

I've met my beast.
It has claws and sharp teeth.
It's not a happy ending.

ElizabethRaine
I haven't been doing the 'Poetry' thing long and I don't o the rhyming kind, I just write how I feel about things and how characters I've created feel about things. This is what comes of it.

love this dispelling of myths, a most creative concept, and you've put your own emotional spin on every tale, it's a very melancholic piece to tell the other side of the story that's much more difficult to stomach.

wow...amazing, Relatable. I just didnt think somebody would come up with something this creative realating to fairytales. Its worth reading from line one to 'its not a happy ending'. I love it.

I like this one, very blunt; very realistic arguably. The feeling of hopelessness picks at me when i read it, and to someone who doesn't share the same view it points out many misconceptions. Very good read! (you certainly know your fairy tales)

I think what you feel here is very . . . relateable for me as well. I got disillusioned about life too, too many times than I could count. Time and cold hard Reality are such merciless opponents . . . no matter how much you fight them, they always win. All you can do is go down with a smile and, if you're lucky, someone's hand to hold . . .
