Sorrow Saguaro

Sorrow Saguaro

A Poem by Ellis Dee
"

Just some feelings of mine upon moving to Tucson this past month :)

"

Whats best, rip my heart from my chest
And leave it alone - to dry up and sing sorrow
With the Saguaro
And I'll re-collect the rest,
Another of life's answerless tests

Whats here has dried, its died
But you can see how it tried
Its frozen in time
Until the wind blows it home...

If my eyes seem dry it's because of drought
Within, without, I am lost
The water's supply went from ocean, to river
From river to lake
From a lake, to a pond
From a pond, to a well
And from a well to a spigot that's been dry
Since before you knew what was thirst...

The last drip was dropped back when I still felt...

When I created it, though, I was singing it aloud in a mournful sort of melody. So I guess that qualifies these as lyrics...?
