Maybe If Only

Maybe If Only

A Poem by Ellis Dee
"

For a young man who is led by the wants and needs of his flesh

"

maybe if only
you would not treat me
as though i am not worth keeping
or that i am nothing
indistinguishable from another

nothing more
nothing less
just a one
you always want one
but they aren't anything worth keeping

you will keep them if they stray
if they stay then you drift away
to see another
or be another

you see nothing other
than what your mother taught you
that is to be completely dependent
on someone else
giving all their love to you

and still you see nothing in them
that betters you
you see no true beauty
you only see you

Excellent thought provoking poem!.. Talking reality is a road less traveled these days with the reader craving for ounces of honesty which he seldom comes across!..Nice work!
