The Demon Inside of Me

The Demon Inside of Me

A Poem by Elliot Kyron

It controls me. It my deepest strength, yet my greatest weakness. It is my power. It is my failure. It is me.

There is a monster deep within

the steel bars of my mind.
Locked tightly away forever,
Something nobody shall find.

It has the control of my heart,
the prowess of insanity.
It is every flaw and fault I am,
Even scars from haunting memories.

For this, I am never truly held together,
Nor completely torn apart.
Like hanging from a cliff’s edge,
But holding on with all your heart.

And I will fight forever,
Like the ever-changing sea.
But not one thing in this world,
Can kill the demon inside of me.

One lives within us all... you are noble to fight him... some embrace him and are damned. I most enjoyed reading this... as if it surely might have been a thought from myself... and in that, there is no higher praise that I can give... Bravo.
