Sweaty Stars

Sweaty Stars

A Poem by elodie

Our hands are sweaty

But they’re intertwined

As we swing back and forth

Staring at the stars

We breathe in the air

Thick and sweet

 For jasmine blooms

Under the moonlight

We hear the cicadas sing

As the rain drizzles

 We eat golden peaches

Nectar dripping on our fingers

I plant a sticky kiss on your cheek

Laughing, you point out the fireflies

I tell you they burn

Because they drink from the stars

When a bug lands on me

As you swat it away; you say

That I’m the most beautiful star

We smile and then go inside

And watch tv shows until three

Sweating on the couches

Laughing till our stomach hurts

I swear I’ll never forget

These summer nights
