Loving Rhyme

Loving Rhyme

A Poem by Elvis Gilley
"

A journey into the depths of a broken heart.

"

Locked in the corridors of my mind

beneath the rubble I seek to find

A glimpse, a glimmer

or any shimmer

Rummaging through memories past

recollecting visions that have long since passed

The dreams and heartache through which my soul has traveled

Leaving me a bundle of emotions which to unravel

So I stand here in the portals of time

searching for the rhythm and rhyme

If only I could walk through the pain

then surely I could spare our love this strain

Dearest heart which beats in thy breast

why must you cause such unrest

Oh hurry, hurry close this book

never let anyone know the agony you forsook

Please wipe away your tears for even this is too much to bear.

So listen

to me one last time

Ponder

what may happen if our love lost its rhyme
