Your Words Are Immortal

Your Words Are Immortal

A Poem by MaryP
"

My humble dedication to, in my opinion, one of the greatest men who ever lived.

"

The words of a dead man

Float through the air

And find shelter inside my head

Stories of love and reconciliation

Words of peace and despair

Although the man

No longer had life

He lived on

He conquered death

For his work never died

His words continue to inspire

His words change lives and bring peace

He changed a generation

He taught youths how to think

He showed that having an opinion

Was worth any risk

He paid the true sacrifice

For speaking all his thoughts

But dead man, know that

Your words of wisdom,

Your humour and thoughts of peace

Continue to be taught

So whether you burn in hell

Or preside in Heaven

You will always be remembered

As a legend among legends

A unique gift to the world

Or more simply as

A crazy man from Liverpool

Named

John Lennon

Author's Note

MaryP
There are many opinions about this man. He never denied his past, he could be horrible and had little worry for consequences. But he never tried to be anything apart from himself. He never shied away from his own opinions. He never accepted injustice or cruelty. He changed a generation, and he continues to change people even now after he was cruelly stolen from the world.

Extraordinary---and excellent tribute to John Lennon. I've noticed that your works are very philosphical and has tremendous meaning in value to life; I believe I've read another one of your peoms before that references the great man, JL. I enjoyed reading this wonderful write.
