Snake in the Green Grass

Snake in the Green Grass

A Poem by Emily Robinson
"

This poem kind of speaks about the character of a person who hides something.

"

Lying in the grass
I don't think I could ever look at you the same way again
the way you became pale, and then you shed your skin
Now I see you for who you really are
and who you are haunts my soul
because you were out to steal me, waiting to swallow me whole

Chorus:
You don't want me to see what you have left behind,
for it's all shriveled, useless, it has dried
The skin of the life that you used to have
that other life, the one you're trying to hide.

Emerging from the green green grass
I don't want to talk this over with you, it's all in vain
the way you listened intently, and tried to wrap yourself around who I was
Now I know you for who you really are
and who you are is a starving soul
because you were out to seduce me, you tried to swallow me whole
