Prologue

Prologue

A Chapter by Emma Pond

Her eyes fluttered shut as the last lingering breath in her lungs whispered through her lips. It was an angelic sigh. Her soul slipped out through her mouth and floated towards the sky. Fox lifted his head to search for the lost spirit, but tiny droplets pelted his forehead instead. The sky was as black as the mud that caked her fur and circled his eyes.

She was gone, and he was alone.

"I've lost everything."

this reminds me of a pet dying in my arms...because you said 'her fur'. this has happened to me several times in my life and there's nothing as tragic as this. great prologue.
