Lest We Regret

Lest We Regret

A Poem by Chris

You can care so much it may never be enough.

Where does compassion run to?

Right back to your box of emotion

This is what it's come to.

You want to talk with a trusted soul

Maybe commuincate common feeling.

But every time the words slip your speech

The silence is more revealing.

Expression yearns for a partner who understands.

But you don't believe what it say's,

Connection has a song to sing and it all depends.

Maybe it's hope of a friend you want,

And getting what you never got!

Don't want to grow old alone

Never been one to speak my soul.

Maybe in pieces of broken translation

Will a millimeter utter tears.

Would it stick if it hit the core of my troubles

And all other fears?

Won't you know the unsaid is alive?

And what you see isn't me!

I wonder if we feel the same way

Inbetween the clash of identity?

I wanted to show you, hold you again!

Something more meaningful.

Dead and feeling old again

Wonder what you see me for?

Want to be with you, know you more.

Something to give, what's speaking for?

It's unnexplainable. I'll let you choose.

Just a couple more attempts,

And maybe we can both let regret rest

So we can start again.
