Life

Life

A Poem by Ellie_the_Traveler
"

Venting my frustration with life's challenges. It's pessimistic but ends on a hopeful note, I think.

"

A two sided coin

A smile and a frown

Life is complicated

It wants to bring me down

I can imagine

A life I would want

But perhaps it’s best

To avoid that thought

Because control is an illusion

What you want and what you get

The very outcome of time

Couldn’t be more difficult to effect

Why bother trying

In this pointless race

Controlled by lady luck

Who laughs in our face

To stop trying is to die

I know this is fact

So we trudge on

But endurance I lack

The race is long

Its prize unsure

So many pitfalls

To out-maneuver

The prize could be

Worth the high cost

So we fight on

Or else we are lost
