Decline Of Health Care

Decline Of Health Care

A Poem by Eric Cox

Hey, why is the hypocratic oath dead
why must Big Pharma's desires be fed
whatever happened to the golden days
when to help the doctors went out of their way
why did money become the heart of health care
why did natural cures fade into the air
the medicines they give can maim and kill
now they want to end supplements to sell their pills
why choose greed over human health and life
the results can harm and cut like a knife
will things ever turn around and shine
health care must never wither on the vine
we must find the way back to like the days of old
when doctors treated their patients like gold

Wow, you truly did capture the state of health care today and I don't see it getting better in the near future. A well written poem which you are so good at Eric describing the nightmare of going to the doctor to get help. Actually, I try to stay away from doctors these days. It's all about pills that are worse than the disease. Brilliant work here!

I agree with everything Berkeley street writer said. It was good of you to address something of this caliber in writing. No one wholly agrees with the corrupt system in the u.s. but it seems like our voices aren't heard and things only get worse. The people in power are twisted and deformed by greed. They lack altruism and consciousness and it barely seems fitting to call these people humane. As for the structure and form of this poem, its flawless and eloquently said. Looking forward to reading more of you.

This is very true. It would be nice to go back to a time when doctors treated the sick and hurt. It would be nice to go back to the barter days. When bedside manner was a pleasure instead of a negative thing. Very well written.

The days when Doctors had conversation are gone. Took me three months to see a proper eyes doctor. The world had changed. A poem that tell the truth. Thank you for the excellent poem.

There is so much messed up with the health care here in the US, and you hit the nail on the head... that money and profit are the bottom line for so many hospitals and doctors now... The well being of patients is a distant thought at best. Powerful and tragic.

Ah, yes. Healthcare isn't heath care these days, its big business and the object sought after is money, doesn't matter how many people die so insurance companies and drug companies get their money. There is no more Hippocratic Oath for doctors unless they are on a big news network and the cameras are running.

You're so right in what you say in this poem. Sad, very tragic but true. Very well written too.

Excellent poem about the state of health care which will probably only get worse. It's not about the patients/people - it's all about money & profits for big pharma and insurance companies. Great work here Eric.
