Postage Due

Postage Due

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Postage Due

baby powder blues

talc tantrum

crying for the sake of crying

but maybe that infant feels the future

even in his tiny ivory bones

trepidation lives in the fissure

of weakened calcium, a carbonated fear

trembling lips, taut timid trek

baby powder blues

pure white sediment

poured innocence already bubbling

with sanity waning wearily

out of the stark womb

feels good now,

but only a temporary fix

from the rash of society

he will later suffer from

when he longs to once again

just be

pending

not delivered.

Postage due (taxes, too) is the truth! All to be born on death row. Still, life is worth it. So, so, sad...the joy a beautiful human pending. God has faith in us, so we continue to try to make it a loving world. So, touchingly written.

A baby realizing life out of the womb is not going to be a cake walk.....yup, it is all downhill from the moment of birth. Pending...not delivered.....love that line. good one. Lydi**

Just pending, but not yet delivered into true life which sometimes can suck. There always will be the haves and the have nots. Many in life get just what they deserve, good or bad, Valentine

so 'goo goo ga ga - waaaa' really means put me back in; I don't want to be here!... we spend our lives trying to cover up those ;rashes' but they keep irritating us... it really is cash on delivery...this is a creative and clever write, my friend...love it

thank you for your words, FT,

Original in the sense that a child is looking back on the womb experience. Yes there will be times when the rash itches his innocence, especially in adulthood.

Regards,
Al
