days of a present past

days of a present past

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

days of a present past

in autumn

i will leave you,

a bonfire of burning veins

the blood extended on branches bowing

there we were, falling for each other once

now memories crunch underfoot,

when the wind settles

and the solid gold bands

bristle in cold October flame

we pass ourselves

like seasons that lost purpose

but refuse to release grip

from a tree of false hope.

Beautifully written Jacob. Sad, poignant words, of what once was and what it is now.

thank you for your words, alife.

A lot of negative imagery in here. Sometimes it help to write it in over abundance, to expel it from ones' self. Awesome write.

Sometimes hopes are blinded by colours of life and seasonal nostalgia...sometimes the leaves are better free and drifted than remaining on a tree that doesn't want to change with the wheel of the year's momentum...beautiful Jacob :)

Life is all about seasons. A time and place for everything. Things die so that other things are born. If we refuse to let go of what's dead then we are not reaching to be alive. Always thought-full words breeding here, Jacob
