the Hail Mary pass

the Hail Mary pass

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

the Hail Mary pass

in the confessional

blurting out sins of coveting

bless me father,

for she is my rosary,

and i want to tell her once for each bead

how her love is like a beautiful penance

but my lips move,

silently,

toward hers

and we breathe in the holy spirit

of passion

then i come to you for contrition

which is constantly thwarted

by the incessant ambition

to join her in that same prayer

again.

You appear to be a rather admirable "sinner."
Don't think, though, that the priest doesn't understand such attraction--such devotion; he might feel the same way about some little boy.
A beautiful almost-prayer, Jacob!

Was also an altar boy--mostly, good priests.

Yes, there is that repetitious lusting and forgiveness thingy.
Way too long of a subject for me to add my thoughts.
I will say that I see many different elements which create this.
it's not just a simple subject.
I see a man made design working behind the scenes that manipulate with human nature to cause the effect.
I'm glad you brought the subject up. It's always a good one to meditate on.

"Bless me father, for she is my rosary." This is a perfect way to describe how devoted we are to someone. Very nice, jacob.

Passion in this is explosive! Wanting, longing, yearning to kiss the one that takes you to an almost spiritual place. Is this a sin? If it is, we all are sinners! Wonderful work. Lydi**

Perfectly capturing the sin of want. We can fight it and we can put up a fight, but to desire and long for so much, will surely beat our will.

Yes jacob,

I like it.

It is my type of poetry and the style that you used to write it gives room for different directions on interpretation.

I once wrote about a girl named Mary, that a demon stalks her on her way to church and when she enters the confessionary, then the demon tries to posses the priest and the priest starts getting agitated from the suffocated presence of the demon that was stalking the purity and innocence of Mary.

its so funny
how some have taken religion
and made a beautiful woman a sin
an evil figure
while beauty is part of life
and love
attraction and infatuation
all human
and none sinful

your words reminded me

good job
