A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

pleasant infractions

instigator winks
a simile of lashes
like encroachment
off-sides,
but she declines the penalty
then throws a smile in his direction,
his heart intercepts

they both win.

In all likelihood, the losses will come, later.
Should marriage eventually follow, children must not be considered "holding penalties." (Most especially, I suppose. if marriage does not precede any children.)
Despite my inherent cynicism, this brilliant account of the flirtatious game is a truly lovely and uniquely perceptive bit of work!
