identity theft

identity theft

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

identity theft

empty wallets

fat love accounts

then early withdrawal

no dismissal compensation

just the penalty of

empty wallets

short on cognitive cash

long on expensive regret.

Extended metaphor I never would have believed could work so well, without seeing it. Somehow feels more like "lesson learned" than bitter regret. A few words paint a varied picture.

Every identity thief should be reminded of this when they steal another's identity.

I think regret is in a way like a battle scar. There is often a story behind it, a story that has played a big role in defining who we've become, and regret teaches appreciation.
A great poem, and a clever one too! it's not a long one, but it certainly does say a lot. Thank you for sharing it!

Ah, yes, regret is way too expensive sometimes, isn't it? The metaphor is super. Lydi**

Regret was strongly expressed in this poem. Very strong writing, the way you summed up your thoughts in such concise words is amazing skill.
Once again excellent piece of writing with thought provoking message.

A crushing reality for many and that old friend regret is always there....sigh

I love the way you've expressed this.

It's sad when love doesn't work out....then we have all the time in the world to reflect and pay for the mistakes we have made. Well said.

yes, and it's too much time to reflect, isn't it?

thank you, Z.

I wonder why the dismissals are so premature. Never see them coming in time. Regret is always a by-product as you said, a very expensive one. Amazingly said.

With me, the words struck a chord. So I would surely say, keep it.

thanks for that.
So true indeed Jacob, so very true. The harder you try the more you'll wind up paying for it. In more ways than one.
