Mission

Mission

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Mission

they called it an isolated incident

a case of overexposure

explicit integration of skin

a passionate panorama

of feelings flying into a no fly zone

no instigation of war

just a kiss of lovely death

the jealous media

crawling all over the story

but we hid from reporters

kept tight lipped secrets

as our eyes danced in delightfully morose conjugation

the verbs conjoining

to land without tense

because the present

was destined to never be past

our hearts forever transitive

each other's only object---

Always like to see parts of speech mentioned in a poem! Hiding from reporters....not really possible. There are eyes everywhere....especially in today's world. A fleeting affair can become headline news if the wrong people become aware of it. Lydi**

It almost feels like an affair or something taboo that really should not be because it's reader than what's real.

Gossips are local form of papparazi to their neighborhoods... it is their way of expressing their jealously or feeding their loneliness.

Such a thought provoking piece this is! Especially the lines--
"because the present
was destined to never be past
our hearts forever transitive
each other's only object---"
are an ultimate beauty and truth to the core.
Thanks for sharing :)

This is my favorite of your Jacob.

''because the present
was destined to never be past''

how truth is that and how perfect would that be, wouldn't it? too bad we are already doomed even before being conceived, yet it is our mission to try...
