telltale keepsakes

telltale keepsakes

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

telltale keepsakes

in the junk drawer,

my heart,

under old tattered scarves

and saddened lingerie

memories of nights of silken wonder

texture of skin and bone

the revelations

in the junk drawer

forgotten taboos

the in-between relationship

the November kind of love

but you've forgotten

and put your mirror

on the other side of your vanity

and my face is no longer behind you

the arms of my echoed voice

whisper in muscled tones

but you're in a different room altogether

and i'm shuddering in the dark

of my own token loneliness.

Oh how I would have cherished learning more, had you been my teacher. I was so pliable in those times. Still in the sealing of my mind set you creep in and deliver exploration. I am eternally thankful that even in your short absences you leave me with something new to grasp. HAPPY TUESDAY J!

Easy to fall into memories of the past, especially during times of being alone. Well said jacob.

Your voice echoes the void of loneliness and your memory behind herself. Some are for keepsakes and some to be tossed away. Every token of the past is hanging of remembrance or forgetfulness...An excellent one, sir...:).............

Powerful and beautiful use of words and thoughts.
"and put your mirror

The above lines I liked a lot. All of us have a secret places for hidden memories. Thank you Jacob for sharing your amazing poetry.

Yes! I sometimes fear digging around in the dark recesses of my mind too much. There are too many illusions and I don't really want the gift to see myself as others see me! I just wish i had the gift to express these ideas in your poetic way.
This is great writing.
Regards,
Alan

Old closets and drawers are always interesting to open and rummage through the junk. There is so much there that was once held close to the heart but now lies discarded. Some like to revisit those places, those memories yet others like to shut them away forever. Beautifully written Jacob.
