A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

endings

november
bare sticks, undressed toothpicks
what's left of the foliage of summer
and then its fall,

and we are cold,
thermostats turned off
like the hearts
we aren't able to regulate
they find their own way to temperature

trees accept their fate
i want to fight against mine
don't want to be a curled, brown leaf
of designation
to a foreign land of heaven or hell
or some raging star
or the hades of youth, again

to find refuge among the steerage of old memories
november
is a frigid find
and the treasure maps exclude
the "X marks the spot"
when it comes to this kind of heartache

we strap ourselves to the chair
and electrocute the discrepancies of what we lost
a bad time for tears
they don't mesh with the wattage

november
is cold and bare
but the burning flesh of poems
written as a last meal of release

starts the month sweating
in its tracks
and trees with it.

I'm with Relic, how can you be so prolific yet maintain the highest of standards, is there more than one of you Jacob, are you an identical sextuplet, do you have special powers, are you a friend of H Potter.

Can't do clever so kind the next best thing Jacob. My pleasure
this is an exquisite piece of art, both compelling with its profound melancholy vividly painted and use of dictation. i’m in complete awe for your gift with words, is an endless source of inspiration for me

always my pleasure, jacob and you’re welcome
I'm amazed that you can write one poem after another in a consistent manner and shape the comparisons like clay into polished poetical products that have meaning and emotion.

Someday, I want to find the treasure full of ideas that you have.

Another excellent poem, Jacob.
