a fragile shot

a fragile shot

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

a fragile shot

12 steps to heaven

the heart drained long ago

a mountain of amazement

the peak reached without a drop

from looking up through that hazy glass bottom

to looking down from clear skies

love fights through rainclouds

the air is so delicate up there

but we do reach balance in flight

the cabin remembered

the cabinet emptied

and a hand held hard

Whew...blew a big breath out there. Where to start? I interpreted this in 2 different ways. First, the love part that others mentioned, but also, the end of a battle with the bottle. Maybe not, but it spoke to me of challenges and victories. And that is all we can really hope for.
Nicely done!

You are insightful, Seriana...
a combination of both...
thank you,

love fights through rainclouds

How I love that line....

I think it's not love, it's us fighting to survive with each other and we give all our credit to the thing called love. I don't know if I make sense but love is such a glorified emotion. I'm glad I'm done with it. 😊💕

Another wonderful poem, my friend. You always inspire words in others.

Where have your old poems gone?

Your style has changed a lot in the last few years. This is one of those poems that make me remember how much weight words can carry. You can share a feeling, an image, and bring something up up in another even when they’re so deeply personal.

There is nothing delicate and fragile about making a marriage work. It requires strength, determination and a great deal of hard work. You have to give it your best shot and you need to be a good mountaineer. Dear j, I have tough mountain boots.
