one-woman band

one-woman band

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

one-woman band

your finely tuned guitar

six strings and smile in your voice

love letters from up North

the scent of your lyrics

the ink splattered sound of tears

pages rustle

like October leaves

you strum my memory

every day

that guitar only plays

in my heart.

This piece conjures up some blues for me, an impression that will remain indelible for all time to come.
You sure know how to write'em, Jacob...straight to the heart!

thank you for your kind review Kelly,
j.
Seems that that guitar that plays only in your heart is being finger-picked. Picking up a guitar and noodling is one great relaxing pleasure.
The one-woman band sounds like a good singer-songwriter who draws emotions from the soul.

A good write j.

All it takes is one sweet melody that we want to reply over and over the rest of our lives.
A very nice romantic poem.

thank you, my friend....

quite likely an acquaintance I'm guessing
I have always thought the guitar fits a single vocalist better than any other instrument

a very close friend...thank you, Dave,

Lovely, simply lovely. After all this time, she still plays with your heart strings. Some memories never fade, they become more precious as time passes. Beautiful expression here Jacob. Very nice my friend.

thank you for your kind words, Chris,

I think even if time has passed and the relationship truly over, good things still come back to haunt you in a nice way. You hear a tune and someone instantly comes back into your mind, life is funny that way.

thank you for your words, Paul,

seems like her guitar strums more than 'memory' Jacob... and sometimes all we need is a one woman band to hear the voice/music in words... they say that it is in spring that makes you feel this way, but I believe it is in fall, October, that brings the most heart strumming... another wonderful poem Jacob...

As always the emotions are palpable. In this I sort of think this might be a song from yesteryear you relate to that infamous ex of yours, but I have no idea who the singer might be. Once more you bend and mould the words around this loss.
