Tell Laura, I love her

Tell Laura, I love her

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Tell Laura, I love her

when storms meet for the first time

onlookers become incontinent

unable to hold their wares

inside,

apologize

as they blow away.

We are all hostages to that which we can't control, be it love or nature. Appreciated the subtlety in this Jacob!

Best, Jamie.

You have embarked on the most original & unusual way to describe a hurricane! Your creativity switch is always on "high"! I loved reading the responses, too (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Ray Peterson was surely not talking about Hurricane Laura when he sang that song! The devastation she brought to to Louisiana and Texas is hard to grasp. Streets where houses once stood are not mere rubble. No apologies accepted, Laura. Just go away! Lydi**

I'm wondering if this is an ex, the recent hurricanes or both.
I can relate more to it being an ex, although can see a sea of faces, already battered by covid, thinking that the end must indeed be nigh and pray it blows itself out.
And not for the first time Jacob, your words make me think of Billy Connolly once more.
As he was making the transition from folk singer to comedian in the seventies, he used to mix jokes with songs and done a routine called the jobbie weecha, which ended with his own reworded version of tell laura I love her.
It must be on youtube somewhere. Well worth a watch 😀

The real storm aside, there is nothing more awkward than to watch a couple whipping each other into an argumentative frenzy. It is quite embarrassing to watch. As for the real storms? Well.....I am sure facing such phenomenons of ferocity would have anyone running for the loo in fear. It's great to read you again, J! I hope you have been staying safe and well and churning out your poetic gems.

dearest Jacob... as we speak at one am on Thursday morning,
the Sky has been rumbling with Thunder and lightening ( I can
imagine must be there).. to encourage it all. Yes, tummies are
grumbling as we apologize and know that a "love storm" has found

"tell laura, I loooooove her, tell Laura I neeeeeed her, tell Laura not to cry, my love for her will never die" wow thats an old one,a good one too! ....tell her yourself ( if you are brave enough to stand in the eye of that hurricane. :P it's peaceful there until the s**t hits the fan. Then the shoes go flyin' every which away! Like Dorthy and the red slippers and the wicked old witch in Kansas, there's no place like home.

oh my bad that's Lake Charles, but i guess any port in a storm will do. :D
The storms are so harsh, sometimes an apology is liking adding insult to injury.

that is true, too...

But the damage has been done. When storms collide there will be mayhem. Apologising after the act is futile. I remember Tell Laura I Love Her, Tragic song, for a tragic situation. Didn't help Laura though left facing the ravages of grief and loss. Sometimes though, whatever the danger, you have to step in.
